Shelly: What are some examples of how donations are spent?
Joeann: It is amazing how much work CARE can do with donation monies: $50 can send an Afghan girl to school for a year; $125 can train a woman in Nepal to teach maternal and child health in her community; $600 can keep 10 girls in Sudan in school and teach them about AIDS prevention; $1,000 can provide a day's supply of emergency rations to 330 families; and $9,000 can pay for construction of a reservoir pond for a village with 1,000 people
Shelly: How is the real estate community participating in this effort?
Joeann: First, let me say that the real estate community is a "community" in a very true sense of the word. Real estate agents and brokers, coaches and trainers, and vendors first became players in an "community" across several Listservs developed at Internet Crusade. And now tat "community exists on blogs and is growing on other platforms with those same hosts. Internet Crusade has offered us support since the earliest days of our efforts. Sponsors have been very generous. Take Matt Ferrara as an example. Matt is one of the leading trainers in the real estate industry and he was one of our early sponsors when we were putting together a raffle. We had to cancel the raffle for legal reasons. He asked us to keep the prizes anyway, and we are going to offer them to the next six $150 Premium Purchasers. His Get Smart Pack for helping broker and agents work with technology is worth $540. That will bring the value of that Premium Package to $1,140. This is the first public announcement of that offering! We're still happy with the $20 Premium Package purchases, also, by the way 8-). And there is still a full $299.95 of value in them.
